Types Of Data Errors

There are different types of data on the submission form, and errors
affect these in a different way.

  • Artist name, label, or genre

No errors are acceptable here, including spelling errors and single
character errors. Any error here will result in false artists or labels
being credited on the release, and false artists or labels being created
in the database.

Of course, this does not apply to ANV, which by it's very nature and
design is there to allow spelling and other variations to be linked to
the main artist profile.

Indexed entries (primary)

  • Date, catalog number

Errors in these are generally unacceptable to the functioning of the
database, but will not affect the database as much as link errors.

Indexed entries (secondary)

  • Credit role, style, track numbering

Minor errors can be accepted, the error should be noted for future
correction

Text entries

  • Track titles, release title, notes

Minor single character capitalisation and spelling errors can be
accepted, the error should be noted for future correction

Formatting

Please Do NOT no-vote submissions for the way the credits are formatted.
Having credits on one line for an artist (combined), or having credits
split into two lines for the same artist, or any combination thereof IS
ALL FINE! There are some small formatting issues with the display if
credits, which could (and will) be improved, but please DO NOT NO VOTE
FOR THE WAY CREDITS ARE PRESENTED! As long as the artist,
tracknumbering, and role are correct, the rest doesn't matter.
