    By [Rhythm Collage]".
    (Link)
Electric Violin
  • We'll end up with electric everything however. Electric Viola,
Electric Banjo etc etc Same for Electric Bass. (though Electric Bass
    has been added since)
    (Link)
  • Electric Violin - then electric viola, electric cello, electric

  • "Credit doles are for active participation in the release, not for
    tributes, sorry."
    (Link)
Wind Controller
  • This is in as an Electronic Wind Instrument
    (Link)
  • A MIDI instrument that converts breath and fingering patterns
(notmally used for wind instruments) into electronic note / duration
/ velocity information, that can then play any MIDI sound.
    (Link)
Zendrum
  • This seems to be one of many various midi controllers. I'd rather
not add every brand name and variation of these, as there will be
too many. How about just "MIDI Controller" or "MIDI Drum Controller"
    or "MIDI Percussion Controller"?
    (Link)
  • MIDI Controller added
    (Link)
Additional Production
  • We could end up adding additional anything... additional vocals,
additional engineering, additional percussion. I don't think this is
    a valid new role.
    (Link)
Field Recording
  • Field Recording - Not 100% sure about this. What about location
recording? Live recording? Concert recording? Nature recording?
    (Link)
Samples By
  • Can anyone give examples of releases this credit is included on, and
    how it is used?
    (Link)
  • Use Sampler [Samples By]
    (Link)
Jaleos
  • Can we just use Handclaps for this?
    (Link)
Jarocha Harp / Arpa Jarocha
  • Harp [Jarocha] seems the best to use.

  • Please use Horn [Shofar]

Keys
  • Actually "Claves" - Claves are already a credit, please use that.
    (Link)
Key Pads
  • Never heard of this, what instrument is it?
    (Link)
Vocal Percussion
  • Don't need to describe - We have Human Beatbox for that, also just
    Voice or Vocals.
    (Link)
Binghi Drum / Fundi Drum / Repetah Drum
  • I seem to remember these being Rastafarian drums - I wonder about
their names and origins though, for example Binghi Drum seems to be
'a drum of the Binghi' rather than 'a drum called a Binghi drum'.
More info needed? use Drums [Binghi] etc in the meantime. Could the
'Thunder' drum be a Binghi Drum? What about Funde / Fundi and
    Repetah / Repeater / Keteh?

Distributed By
  • Distributed By - would be great, but it is not an artist role.
    (Link)
Baterias
  • This is Spanish for drums (usually drumkit).
    (Link)
Background Vocals
  • Not sure about the meaning of this as opposed to Backing Vocals.
    (Link)
Zugerörgeli
  • An Helvetic Accordion - How does this differ from other Accordions?
    Can we use Accordion [Zugerörgeli]
    (Link)
Grunts
  • Please use Vocals [Grunts] for now
    (Link)

    (Link)
Ad Libs
  • Not sure. This will most commonly be a credit for improvised for
vocals, but can also apply to other instruments. More discussion?
    (Link)
Music Supervisor
  • "Supervised By" for the moment, thanks!
    (Link)
Nai
  • Please use Panpipes for now
    (Link)
Realized By / Realization

  • I'm unsure what this role relates to. Design? Production?

Cover / Sample
  • Regarding both 'Cover' and 'Sample' type credits, they are more
involved than just adding the credit, and needs more discussion and
    thought.

Cuts
  • Scratches [Cuts]
    (Link)
Folk Guitar
  • It's a guitar like a Classical guitar (or Spanish guitar) only the
body is somewhat larger and the strings are not nylon strings but
metalstrings = Acoustic Guitar, see 'Updated'.
    (Link)
Chant
  • Use Vocals (Chant)
    (Link)
Beats
  • A lot of rap / hip hop records have 'Beats' credited in discogs just
as "Producer". I think Beats are credited a lot and can mean a
variety of things, perhaps producer, programmed by, vocals, lyrical
beat, drums, etc... Having 'Beats' as a credit role will get over
that 'i think it is more appropriate' argument. - The role has to be
defined, it can't be this vague. IMHO 'Beats' in this context means
backing track written by, arranged, played, and produced by... In
this case, I think 'Produced By (Beats)' is the most appropriate
    credit.

Associate Producer
  • Producer (Associate)?
    (Link)
Assistant Producer
  • Producer (Assistant)?
    (Link)
Additional Production
  • Production (Additional)?
    (Link)
Overdubs
  • As mentioned, this is vague. Is it the musician, or the technition?
Without knowing which, having a role for it is not meaningful.
    (Link)
  • Design [Logo]?
    (Link)
Sequencer
  • Sequenced By
    (Link)
Alto Flute / Bass Flute / Contrabass Flute / C Flute / E♭ Soprano Flute (a/k/a Terzflöte)
  • We could also use Bamboo Flute, Concert Flute and Transverse Flute.
A western concert flute is a transverse flute so the two could be
combined. If we want to add "as on release" we should have both.

Originally By / Book By
  • A credit role for authors of the original underlying book for
audiobooks would be good, something like "Originally by" or "Book
by" or similar. Written-by is so much linked to music in this
database. - Added as 'Text By'
