Compact Disc Group Catalog

Compact Discs (CDs) were first made available to the public in late
1982, and in 1983 there was a rush to produce discs for the blossoming
market. Although some independent labels produced CDs that year, almost
all of the albums made available on CD were classical and pop/rock
releases on major labels.

The Compact Disc Group Catalog was a brochure that listed all of
these major-label titles that were commercially available. Someone on
the Steve Hoffman Forums posted some
photos of the first (and maybe only) edition of this early CD
discography.

Feel free to use it as a reference for narrowing down release dates. If
a disc is listed there, you can assume the first pressing was released
between August 1982 and June 1983. First-pressing dates outside of this
range should be considered doubtful.
